Jupiter in Sagittarius

That guy in the middle? Sagittarius. Totally.

Jupiter has entered Sagittarius and will stay there for quite some time. It entered Sagittarius on November 8, 2018 and will stay until December 2, 2019. Jupiter is the natural ruler of Sagittarius, and there, it adds joviality and generosity, and a big dose of optimism.

As of this writing, there are four planets in the signs of their natural rulership: Venus in Libra, Jupiter in Sagittarius, Saturn in Capricorn, and Neptune in Pisces.  Planets in the signs of their natural ruler ships have the purest, easiest expression, although that doesn’t mean it’s a good thing. The planets’ amps are cranked to 11, so the good and bad are amplified though the good moreso than the bad. Jupiterian optimism can lean toward foolhardiness, Venus’s emphasis on fairness leans toward indecision or playing both sides, Saturn’s sense of responsibility leans toward self-denial, and Neptune’s dreaminess leans toward escapism. It’s leaning, however, not a plunge. It’s exaggeration.

For Sagittarius, however, exaggeration is just swell. With Saturn in their sign in 2015 to 2018, and with Jupiter in Scorpio previously, it was as if Sagittarius just couldn’t catch a break. Opportunities dried up, and getting ahead was impossible for  those who weren’t already well-connected or willing to play kiss-ass games. There were no detours, and the world was polarized, and Sagittarius is all about their principles. In fact, I would expect Sagittarius out of all the sun signs to be the most likely to sever relationships with family and friends over politics and ideology, though with Jupiter in Scorpio, they learned who was really their friend and who wasn’t.

Perhaps what’s second hardest for Sagittarius was that people were laughing at them, not with them. While they won’t take it too hard if someone jokes around, they don’t want to be left out of the fun. They’re a few steps behind, not quite welcome, not quite able to go native and make people like them.

The number one hardest thing for Sagittarius was the doubt and crises of faith. Even the Sagittarius who are not religious or spiritual has to wonder if the universe that always seemed to have their backs had turns it’s back on them, and not necessarily because they weren’t lucky or blessed anymore, but rather that they couldn’t feel lucky or blessed.

However, now that Jupiter is in Sagittarius, there should be a feeling of generosity and open-mindedness, and hopefully, less bloviating and less feeling that our thoughts are sacred cows never to be slaughtered, because Jupiter, the bringer of abundance, will always let us have more.

Where is Jupiter in your chart? That’s where you’re going to feel a lot more positive right now. Where is Sagittarius? You’re going to feel luckier, and you’ll have more opportunity. Whatever planets Jupiter is transiting will expand, too, and you’ll demonstrate more of those planets’ qualities.

Just, you know, for everyone: there is such a thing as too much of a good thing. Excess and bacchanal indulgence is okay once in a while, but we all need to remember that celebration is best when there’s something to celebrate.

Of course, Jupiter in Sagittarius can always find something to celebrate.
